Her Day
We noticed something interesting with Nutmeg last night. At Nutmeg's birthday dinner Doug started out with a prayer for her. During dinner we all shared funny stories about her. Then we called Grandma on skype and did presents and cake. We did our best to honor her. We made the boys use the pink cups and plates even though it almost killed them. We made it clear that it was a day to celebrate her and what she likes (their turn isn't far off).
Funny thing. Our normally exuberant little girl was so quiet during dinner and the post-dinner festivities. Unusually quiet. Not in a bad way, just not much to say. I think she really didn't know what to do. Everything was focused on her and her life. I think it shocked her newly four-year old self. She just took it all in and listened.
She really is the sunshine in our family. We are so thankful to God for her. Birthdays are nice that way; a special time to slow down and thank God for each gift of life.

Love this story of how you did her Birthday, her first day on earth day. Thanks for Skyping! I sure enjoyed watching. BTW, before I forget, her blingy top has to be washed on gentle cold inside out. I
ReplyDeletelearned that the hard way with a top long ago.
Nutmeg is indeed a Princess and such a sweet girl...She adapts so well to anything that comes her way...just like her mommy!
LOVE,
