Just Checking In . . .

The weather outside is . . .
Sunny and beautiful but cold, I think. Doug said it was 29 degrees this morning. It looks like a nice day for a walk . . . if I were into walking right now. :)

I'm listening to . . .
Nutmeg playing with Dominos beside me and occasionally coughing.

In the kitchen . . .
We are still eating decently . . . Praise God! Good food is such a big deal to me, so I'm thankful for normal meals. I even made three crock pot meals for us this week and Doug didn't have to cook those days. Yeah me! The homemade chicken noodle soup was a real hit! That homemade broth is the bomb! So good for all of us. It's actually back on the menu for this week; it looks like we're going to need it.

In the yard . . .
The kids are still loving the new-to-us swing set. Even though I'm inside most of the time, it makes me happy to see them getting Vitamin D and fresh air.
Basil even dragged Sage out exploring into the
forest for a long time the other day. So good for them!

On my nightstand . . .
"Ben Hur" by Lew Wallace. Very good read. "10 Habits of Happy Mothers" by Meg Meeker. The mamas at church have a book club and we're reading this one together. So wonderful to get together with these wonderful ladies and toss our thoughts around.

Baby baking . . .
36 weeks tomorrow! (the ticker on the blog is one day off) By golly, I think I'm going to make my goal. One more week! It's not a lot of fun. My sacrum is still killing me amongst other prenatal aches and pains but we're doing it. We have much to be thankful for. Wahoo! Just hoping we'll be fairly ready when the big day arrives. This weekend our goal is to install the car seat and set up the co-sleeper.

The boys and I are reading . . .
"Five Children and It" by E. Nesbit

Learning, learning all the time . . .
We just went over multiplication and division in Math. For the rest of the year the boys will be working on learning their 2's and 3's multiplication tables. We drew turkeys with Mr. Rob for art. Reading is going swimmingly. They love to read; so thankful for that. If I've done anything well in this mothering thing, its been modeling/teaching a love for reading. Quite accidental most of the time but so very joyful about this habit in our lives. Working through our text on ancient Greece. I was thrilled to find a good collection of picture books about some of the Greek myths in our neighboring library this week. We've been going to another library lately because that is where my chiropractor is located. It's been a blast because they have a different collection of books and a super fun play area. This library was recently remodeled, so we've had fun exploring a new place.

Plans for the upcoming week . . .
Sadly we'll be missing the super fun Christmas parade in downtown Baraboo tonight. :( So sad. It's such a wonderful community event. All three kiddos are sick this weekend. So home it is and a crock pot full of chicken noodle soup at some point.

Mr. Doug is shopping today and will be our cook for Thanksgiving. I told him that I have no expectations for Thanksgiving at all but he says he wants to do the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, apple pie, and cranberry sauce. So there you go. We should be nicely fed.

I'm off to Madison for a doctor's appointment and Portage for the chiropractor. My weekly doctor's appointments in Madison starts this week. Phew! Not gonna be easy.

Keep those prayers comin'!

All my love!

  1. Well all sounds good in spite of the colds..I actually went to the site to get this, as it has not hit my inbox, and I just talked to Doug. Love Nutmeg's dress! She can wear it a long time! Glad that Daddy is such a big help and shops, cooks, and whatever needs to be done. the boys are doing very well, thanks to a good teacher! Math was always my favorite to teach and learned a lot from my dad. There are so many tricks...maybe I will show a few of them to the boys...
So I finally looked up the "tailbone", sacrum, coccyx and figured it out at last! So this has caused you trouble now. Mine caused me trouble big time after both of my babies. I had to sit on a rubber ring for months... when I asked my doctor he said, Oh, you broke that during delivery ...and it will heal by itself...well, it did eventually. Seems mine is curled a bit the wrong way or something and it was a problem. Rubber ring was the most help...but sitting and standing was a real chore.! Love and prayers are flowing your way.....
