Anticipation

Our Advent tree. It will be a bit sparse until Christmas.

Today was a big day for us. A much anticipated day.

For the last month everybody in the family (including Dad!) kept trying to sing Christmas songs but Boss Mamma outlawed it until Advent. December 1st. Oooh, I was mean and strict! :)

But on the way home from church today, I stuck in a Christmas CD and let 'em all go at it! Oh, how excited they all were!

Not that its Christmas . . . yet! Advent is still about waiting, preparing, anticipating. . . So we'll continue to hold back on some of the festivity and joy. . . until the birth of Jesus!!

I had also been anticipating today because today marks my 37th week of pregnancy and the day my doctor is back from her vacation in Georgia. I had been lying around as much as possible making sure I did my part not to go into labor. But full steam ahead! Doctor M is back and baby can come whenever. That could be tomorrow or it could be closer to Christmas.

So now we continue to prepare our hearts and our home for a number of things. We spend Advent thinking and pondering how to prepare ourselves for the second coming of Christ. Will we be found ready? We will spend the month preparing for the celebration of his first coming, the nativity. AND we will also be spending the month preparing and waiting for the coming of our own baby boy!!  What an Advent and Christmas!

We read our first chapter of "Destination: Bethlehem" tonight. LOVE it!

It struck me to day that if Jesus were in fact born on December 25th, then I would be about at the same place in my pregnancy as she was at this time (our baby's due date is December 22nd). Pretty cool to think about. Although I cannot imagine riding on a donkey right now!!  But I suppose she was probably a teenager and more fit than I.

Well, I'm off for my beauty rest. Have a blessed week!

So excited about this teeny cloth nativity set I made for Nutmeg.
I'll put them in her stocking for St. Nicholas day on Friday.

See the tiny baby Jesus?

LoL! Doug must have taken this one.

Sage and Dad on a walk on our "trails" this afternoon. Maybe snowshoe trails for the winter!? Ooh, I can't wait!

  1. I love all of this...those are fantastic pictures! The news is fantastic! You look very pretty even with a large baby in front of you, so your beauty rest is paying off. Nutmeg cracks me up and Basil could not be more inventive. Ho! Ho! Ho!
The safe zone is here~ How about on your own birthday??? Hmmmm... Well, now you can do a lot of activity and that does it...after a few hours. Do you have plastic totally on your entire mattress? Please do, and under the bed to pull out. Just for good measure.
Love the advent calendars or something under the tree. The advent figures you make for nutmeg are wonderful l! Back in the day we put my sister on a bicycle and then made her play the player piano (bellows activated by pumping). We wanted Dawn to be born before Dad and I (my dad) went back home So after the player piano effort she did start labor, we took her to the hospital and I stayed as the acting father as Uncle Pat was in France. Well, Dawn Marie was born on Jan. 2nd like the twins, only at 3 am.

Glad the doctor is back...tell our little guy he can come out any time now!!
