Happy Birthday Guys!!

How has it been EIGHT YEARS already?  Yikes.

Today they've kept saying "I can't believe I'm eight years old." Me neither guys.

Seems like just yesterday.

Things have been a whirlwind around here lately, so I've felt badly that we basically have done no prepping for the boys' birthday. We plan to fulfill the boys' wish to go to the Tommy Bartlett Science Exploratory this Saturday but beyond that, nothing. We are so blessed with kiddos who are easy to please. We swung past the store yesterday to buy a boxed cake mix and a package of gummy worms to create a "dirt cake." They were so excited! (Mom and Dad are thinking "Phew!")
Then today the kids and I go to Walmart to pick up a few decorations and noisemakers. Sage declares "This is this best birthday ever!" (Phew, again.) This afternoon we hung out with our homeschool buds at the library and then came home to decorate the cake together. When Dad got home, he cooked hamburgers for the birthday grub. We partied on with the dirt cake, noisemakers, and cards/gifts that came in the mail. Doug and I didn't have time to buy birthday gifts, so we bought cards and put cash in them. The boys' eyes dropped open when they saw the cash. Golden! Happy campers all around. Low key and happy around here! (now if we can do the dishes and get a bit more sleep tonight)

Happy Birthday my growing boys! We love you!!!

  1. I love it! Clever parents...you pulled it off and they loved it! The boys loved it all. I heard about dirt cake. When they were two you made mud cake out of beets and it was just like chocolate. Nutmeg is being so nice and grown up looking here. The idea on money was super...as they get older they have ideas of what they want with parents guidance. Their cousins are exact about things already...Can't wait for tomorrow!
