I Forgot the Camera Again . . .

Last weekend my father-in-law came to visit and I forgot to take pictures. There were a couple of times where I would have loved to catch the moment on film. But of course, savoring the moment need not include a camera. Still I would have loved to share those moments here.

Then I went and forgot the camera again last night. Last night was the Christmas Light Parade in downtown Baraboo. We do love this small town. It is splendid to live here. (Don't ask me about the grocery shopping though!)  The downtown is charming, active, and lively. The town life does seem to center around the town square.

The history of the town is largely built upon the work of the Ringling brothers who wintered their Ringling Brothers Circus here in the early 1900's. If you were to explore our town a bit (and please do!), you would see influences of the Ringling Brothers all over town. One place that we enjoy is the Al Ringling Theater downtown. Grandpa S toured the theater when he was here and enjoyed it very much from what I hear. This December, we plan to enjoy two events at the Ringling Theater. Yeah!

Anywho . . . last night was the 13th Annual Christmas Light Parade in downtown Baraboo. Normally I like to celebrate Christmas when it is supposed to be celebrated, on December 25th. We couldn't miss out on this community event though. We are all so glad we made it! I think this was probably our first parade with the kiddos. It was dark and there lots of special lights to make the night magical. In Baraboo fashion there was a clown riding a tiny bicycle, a camel, and reindeer. There were a couple of marching bands and of course, Santa Claus. At the end of the parade, the Baraboo Fire Department used their truck and ladder to lift Santa up to light the Christmas tree on top of the Ringling Theater.

After the parade there was a free magic show put on by the performers from Circus World. Ever since we went to the circus earlier this summer Sage has been making up magic tricks on his own. He loved the show last night! Someone is getting a little magic set this Christmas. :)  Shh. . .

  1. I bet this place is neat. About graceries...is your Walmart a full store? It is not the best for fruits and beggies and natural foods...but ok in a pinch...Your farmers market takes care of a lot...but guess you will have to find better places by Madison during the winter.
