Just Checking (a short version!)

Outside my window. . .
Cloudy, snow on the ground but not so cold.

I'm listening to . . .
Magic Schoolbus. Our library has all the episodes. Oh, how we LOVE this show!

These are a few of my favorite things . . .
Date night! Wahoo! Tonight, in fact. As soon as I get off here, I'm going to finish picking up the house a bit before the sitter comes. And then Doug and I are off on the town. There's a laid-back work party and then Doug and I are going to ditch it early to go see "Lincoln." Stoked.

In the kitchen . . .
Things were tasty this week. The Lentil Sausage Chard Soup rocked. Today I made the Whole Grain Muffins with Pears and Ginger. Yum! That will be regular too.

The Boy and I are reading . . .
"The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling. Right now Kaa, Bagheera, and Baloo are trying to rescue Mowgli from the Bandar-log.

Other Books with the Kids . . .
We've had an excellent run on the picture books lately! I already shared the "The Quiltmaker's Gift" with you. For our virtue study we've read a couple books in "The ValueTales" series. Excellent! They are fantastic and fun stories of various heroes. Not only are they excellent examples of the virtues lived out but they are a great way to learn some history. I read these to the kids during lunchtime. We just finished "The Value of Foresight: The Story of Thomas Jefferson."  We had a blast diving into a bit of American history.

On my nightstand . . .
A steady stream of George MacDonald. CS Lewis said of MacDonald,  "I have never concealed the fact that I regarded him as my master; indeed I fancy I have never written a book in which I did not quote from him."

Learning, learning all the time.
We are plowing right along in everything. We left Raphael a bit early to learn from Rembrandt. Hopefully I'll share a bit about that later.

Plans coming up . . .
Time to get ready for that date. Maybe some skiing for the boys. Dentist for me. Selling a house!! Buying a house, I think. :)  Making dinner for some friends. And some gymnastics for Sage in a couple weeks. Excited about that one! Sage's first solo activity. He's flipping and flying all over the house in anticipation!

Nutmeg helping with roasted red pepper hummus.
I always have the computer nearby cuz that's where my recipes are from
