We on are onto a new virtue this month. Perfect timing because dad and mom could use an extra dose of prudence this month. Our home in Washington is selling this month (God willing). Wahoo!! After the house closes, we will have the opportunity to decide what to do next.
Anyhow, during lunch today the boys and I reviewed faith, hope, and charity. We then started talking about prudence. Here are a few notes on prudence from my binder. I hope they might bless you as well.
"Prudence is the virtue that disposes practical reason to discern our true good in every circumstance and to choose the right means of achieving it."
"It is called auriga virtutum (the charioteer of the virtues); it guides the other virtues by setting rule and measure. It is prudence that immediately guides the judgment of conscience. The prudent man determines and directs his conduct in accordance with this judgment. With the help of this virtue we apply moral principles to particular cases without error and overcome doubts about the good to achieve and the evil to avoid."
Memory Verse: "The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps." Proverbs 14:15
Just a little trip down memory lane. |
BTW, Lent is right around the corner. I am hoping to have a plan in place by next week. Prayers for me as I seek to draw near to Him? Have anything special planned?
Wow! I do not think most kids have the benefit of being taught the virtues....this is fantastic.....I know adults who were not taught this as well!! Kudos to you!!
