Home At Last!
We are a happy, happy bunch! We can't tell you how good it feels to finally be "home." Even the kids have commented that they finally feel like they are "home" after being in Wisconsin nine months. It feels very good to be here. We are loving the polishing up we've done on the house so far. We are happy the choices we've made thus far. We've had industrial carpets for the last nine months at the apartment. I can't tell you how soft and plush this new stuff feels. Aaahh!
There are repairs and cleaning everywhere we turn. Poor Doug has a lot of projects ahead of him; a few big ones and multitude of small ones. I see things all the time that are quite dirty and in need of scrubbing or replacement. But we are (I think I can speak for everyone here) fine with that. Having a place to call your own makes all the difference in the world. We are just plain happy.
Thank you Lord! And I, for one, am trying to remind myself that from an eternal perspective, this is not my home. I am just passing through. In the meantime, I'm enjoying this one!
Plans for the week.
I'm winging it. We never took a spring break, so I'm going to play it by ear for our lessons. We may take a few days off totally or, more likely, we'll go lighter while mom is unpacking a bit. AND . . . we've got to play outside in our new some too! (IF the weather ever turns around. Sheesh. It looks and feels like November. I see even Friday has a chance of snow).
I pretty much don't know what we'll be eating either. I do think I have everything we need for crockpot chicken noodle soup for tomorrow. Yeah! That will be nice on a chilly day.
Doug is pretty busy with work this month and next, so I pray he'll keep pluggin' along with a fair amount of endurance. He's being putting in very long hours working on the house the last few weeks.
Sage has his gymnastics class and we homeschool day at the library this week.
I am off to Minnesota this weekend for a homeschool conference. Yeah! Gotta start thinking about preparing for that as well.
Nighty night. I'll see if I can get a few pictures on here soon. Right now they'd mostly be pictures of boxes and piles.
Well, I hear ya! Glad you are in and safe. There are always a million things to do! I would also be looking for unwanted dirt...we are just clean girls!! As you say, it is a home as you pass through life! Glad that Basil, Sage and Nutmeg like being in a home finally!
ReplyDeleteI do hope having the kids will make this an easier weekend for Daddy!
