Mama is Happy
It's been a productive weekend garden-wise. Saturday Basil, Nutmeg, and I went to the Farmer's Market and picked up a ton of great herbs and veggies.
Here's what I got in the ground:
oregano, chives, spearmint, parsley, thyme, basil, dill seeds, cilantro seeds,
green onions, more spinach, sugar pumpkins, acorn squash, zucchini, butternut squash, tomatoes, peppers, pole beans.
We've got our usual rosemary and sage in a pot on the deck. I planted a whole package of cilantro and dill! Yum!!
I'm so excited!! I hope all goes well. I've already seen some nasty bugs that apparently like to eat potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant. I'm hoping the kids will catch a bunch and dispose of them for me.
I still need to find and buy some cucumber plants. Next weekend we'll plant the eggplant. We'll buy a bunch of marigolds and hopefully that will deter some of the pests. I read that bush beans help potatoes out too, so we'll plant some of those near the potatoes.
Nutmeg helped me plant the squash. She's such a great little helper. Sorry no pics this week. Too dirty to hold a camera.
Happy, happy. I can just taste the salsa now! Yum!!

On the house front, Doug finished up sealing off the basement wall. Wow, what a project. He just needs to finish filling in the dirt. I think he's pretty pleased with the results.
The contractors are almost finished. The last items for the contractors will be finishing off the trim, framing doorways, and hanging doors.
We're hoping to get the flooring in during the next month (cross fingers here). We should be able to finish moving the rest of our stuff from the garage and really settle in the middle of next month. Looking forward to it!!

Oh yes, and here are the Pentecost Sundaes we had to celebrate this wonderful day! I love Pentecost Sunday!
Dove chocolate = Holy Spirit
Red Hots (much better would be Atomic Fireballs but so hard to find) = tongues of fire
**Note: I cannot be credited for this fun idea. I stole it. :)
That is so impressive!! I will be happy to buy veggies from you!!! Can you grow any fruit as well? guess you will have to put in s few trees someday.
ReplyDeleteDaddy is sure turning into a handy man. Grandpa must be proud. Nutmeg is amazing. What a girl!!
