Happy Easter!

I spotted somebody scarfing down the candy behind the couch. Lol.

Happy Easter! You know, for many Easter Sunday is the beginning of the Easter Season. 50 days long. Time to really rejoice in the resurrection. Doug, MIL, and I watched "The Passion" Saturday night. It's not particularly a comfortable movie to be entertained by. It's painful. It's difficult to think about what Jesus went through. And he said "yes." Yes to all of that.

But there is victory! Death hurts. But true life follows for those who choose to open themselves up to more. If you settle for the Easter bunny, that's where it ends. Fun for a day to celebrate spring. Fun for one lifetime. Is one day enough for you? One lifetime? Or do you choose more? To open yourself up to so more? To allow yourself to think beyond all this? There is so much more meaning to life. And beyond. The Kingdom of God. It's not a fairy story.

It was good to watch that movie and be saddened by the events of the passion but to realize that Sunday changed everything. There is good news! Exhilarating!

We had a nice weekend around these parts! Saturday morning I got out for a nice walk. When Grandma arrived in town, we went to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather. Then Grandma took us out to dinner for Doug's birthday. I had read that "The Barn" was a local favorite. We decided to give it a try. It's only a few minutes from our house. It was fabulous! I wish I had taken pictures. A picturesque evening. The restaurant is in the bottom part of a barn. Very homegrown hospitality. Great atmosphere. Our waitress was awesome with the kids! The food was kickin'! After we ate inside I took the kids outside to patio. There were several HUGE weeping willow trees. The kids spent some time swinging on the trees and running around. I highly recommend this place! Good food, good company in a laid-back atmosphere.

Saturday evening we all decorated Easter eggs. It's going so quickly these days with so many decorators. Next year, more eggs! By the time Mace is three, we'll be eating boiled eggs for weeks!

Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast together and donned our Sunday best. I do wish I had taken more pictures of the whole weekend. Everyone always thinks moms are silly to take pictures. I decided to lay off the pictures and just enjoy the weekend. It was fun to relax but you know, I do love those pictures. Lots of memories for years to come. Oh well. I think next year I'll try to get a picture of the whole family. I do like those. Yes and NEXT year we are visiting the salon the week before Easter. Everyone looked so nice but our hair was dreadful. In desperate need of haircuts. :)

Celebrating the Risen Lord in church was wonderful! I'm so content and happy that there is reason for celebrating that goes to the very core of my being. It isn't a passing joy. It's deep and penetrating!

We got home and did the greatly anticipated egg hunt! Oh how the kids love it! The kids also hunted and found their Easter baskets/gifts. Goodness, they really came out with some booty this year! Mr. Basil has been into Indiana Jones lately, so I got him a fedora. That boy is on top of the world now! Watch out world! Sage is totally digging a rocket launcher. And Nutmeg and I crafted some new headbands together. Special girly moments.

Alrighty, gotta run.  Love you all!!

  1. OH, MY!! It was everything you said...the whole weekend and more! It was great to see the kids so happy, and the parents as well. the Passion of the Christ hurts so deeply in every way...I did not finish watching before, but this time I did! The three elder children, (LOL) are very good to their new sibling, and love him to pieces....he is an amazing baby ...I guess he listened carefully while he was growing in Mommy. He must have for sure. He knows me the minute he sees me! WOW! Wonderful visit...I will sleep well a few nights for sure...but went to the gym and survived today! It was a magical weekend,
