Alaska Trip: First Days

Wow! We did it. We have been saving miles on Alaska Airlines for several years now, so we were able to get a free ticket. We also had two companion fares. So not a bad deal for us. And, of course, Mr. Mace was free. It was a good year to do it.

We prepped the kids for quite an ordeal in the airport and on the plane but it all went amazingly smoothly. We had no line at the counter. In fact, even before I got there the ticket agent started checking us in by asking Nutmeg our names. When we got to security they whisked us to the front of a line. Easy peasy. The kids all did well on the flights as well. My arms did get pretty sore holding Mace because he wanted to stand in my lap most of the time.

We spent the night at a super condo in Girdwood and had planned to play in Girdwood and Seward but unfortunately the  weather didn't cooperate. Instead we headed to my younger brother's house to celebrate my older brother's birthday.

Unbelievable salmon dinner made by my older brother, Bruce, and his wife, Jaemi. I want some now!

Alaskan paper dolls from Aunt Jaemi.

The next day we laid low; getting settled and resting.

Doug and the three oldest kiddos woke up early the next day to go fishing with Bruce, Kelsey, and Jared. Much of the best fishing is super early in the morning.

My bro, a life-long avid fisherman.
