Here's a little art project with did this afternoon. Just in time for Halloween. The kids' enthusiasm for Halloween is unrestrainable. (spell check says this is not a word; I'm making it one). You can't blame them, I suppose, with the focus on running around town asking for candy while dressed up as their favorite characters. I know this is a highly debated holiday. Our family stance on the affair is that we redeem the good parts. We discuss the origins of the holiday and surrounding days: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then we have fun with it in a wholesome way. We leave out and censor the gory parts and include the fun, beautiful, and wholesomely entertaining. We might include just a tad of the scary because I do think it is important to interact with our culture on a level that is appropriate. I don't like to isolate ourselves as Christians. Hopefully when the kids are older they will be able to find a healthy balance for themselves.
Anyways, here are our "Scream" paintings from today . . . it was a super fun project for all of us!!!
We are pulling most of our weekly art projects this year from the Art Projects for Kids blog. It's been a hit so far this year!
The pictures are amazing! WOW all have good hand coordination, and I must say that .Nutmeg is way above most all kids her age. I like your way of celebrating.
