Sunny Weeknight Dinner

We took advantage of a sunny, warm evening last night. I had an easy meal planned for dinner last night. The day was beautiful, so I called a friend at 8:30 in the morning. She said they would be happy to join us at the lake. Doug got home, we packed up the food in our picnic basket, and headed for the lake. We like to drive in the "back way" to the state park (most popular state park in the state AND in our backyard). On the way fire fighters were doing a prescribed burn. The kids were fascinated; so we had a good conversation about fires in the forest. Education is life, right? Yep! It was a good nice evening eating outdoors, talking, and playing with friends.

No need, Grandma, to flip out about the haircut. I did plenty of that for the both of us. Major miscommunication about this one.

**Aldi tip: I found a product at Aldi that makes me happy. Just in time for summer. Ya'll have problems finding decently-
priced sausage and lunch meat without a bunch of preservatives? In a small town such as ours this is quite the challenge. Well . . .Aldi has been adding a number of new products lately. I found found lunch meat and sausage without nitrates and other preservatives. Just regular FOOD. Wahoo! The brand name is "Never Any." In our store they are in the same area as all the cheeses. The sausages are pre-cooked, so the flavor isn't the most amazing ever but they are good enough for us. It just feels good to find meat like this without preservatives. No guilt! Well, organic and local would be ideal BUT you do what you can and this is an improvement for us. Pre-cooked actually is pretty good in my mind when you are doing a quick dinner like we did last night. Then you just have to warm them up without worrying about safety.
