Not much to report here. Not much on the camera to show ya.
Of course, we are watching the news more this week than usual. Pope Francis is in the country, as some of you are probably aware. He is here just ahead of the World Meeting of Families. Yesterday he became the first pope ever to address congress. Right now he is speaking to the UN. We have been thrilled and encouraged with his message. Doug and I are feeling like we are really seeing how much of Pope Francis's image has been distorted through the lens of the media. Media who doesn't have the same end in mind as the pope. In watching his speech to Congress and listening to reports about it, his message is clear and what is needed in our country. We were especially heartened by his unscheduled visit to encourage the Little Sisters of the Poor.
If you are at all following the pope's visit and the following Synod on the Family in Europe in October, I plead with you that you won't get your information from the mainstream media. They will (and are) twisting the pope's image to whatever fits their design. We often get our news information, at least on the Catholic world from here.
This week we had some families over to celebrate the liturgical year. It was great fun. It's our plan do this once a month for the school year. It is a nice way for our kids to get to know the other children in the parish.
Here was the result of the afternoon for Mace and I though. Guess we'd better eat our Wheaties next time. :) |
got a little crafty on Sunday. craft therapy. :) |
Mace update:
He's at such a fun age right now. I wish I could share some videos right now of the stuff he is doing. He's such a wild man; jumping off everything and then laughing about it. Here's to hoping we don't get any ER visits out of it.
He is talking more and more. Little stuff but super helpful in communicating with him. This week he started using "no" but not in a negative way. Not naughty-like. If I ask him he wants something, he'll say "no" and that settles it. Then I'll just keep asking until its the thing he was thinking of. Oh the amazing developments of family life! Simple but thrilling! :)
Mace also like math! Lol. He must listen a lot when we are counting or something. But his counting goes like this . . . He'll open a book by himself, starting pointing his finger at objects, and say "Two, two, two, two!!" The kids will ask him "Mace, what's 1+1" and he'll answer "Two!" They'll say, "Mace, what's 100 divided by 50?" He'll answer "Two!" We have great fun with it.
Okay, that's it for today of our terribly exciting details. I hope this finds you rejoicing in the details too. Tell us about it!!
Oh my, that is all cute! Love the sacking out Mace and Mom! Priceless...I cannot wait to hear him talk...let me see...what should I teach him...Maybe I should show him pics of Daddy when he spent 6 visits to the ER in 4 weeks. Just do not let him out on the deck without holding onto someone's hand!!! JUST DO WHAT I DID! I GOT THIS LINE FROM THE PEDIATRICIAN... IT IS THE Y CHROMOSOME.
