Hi there,
I thought I'd take a moment to do a real quick check-in. How are you guys by the way? I do miss my family. You all are in my prayers nearly every day. I hope the beginning of summer is treating you very well.
We are well. Juggling. This week I've been juggling getting the garden into shape and being the educational organizer around here. It's worked out pretty well. The garden is coming into shape and the lessons have moved forward. We are also trying to juggle getting these counter tops cut and oh, I hope installed soon.
Lesson-wise we don't expect to stop when all the schools do. For math we have a chunk of geometry and graphing lessons after we finish up some review and tests. The boys have been writing three paragraph essays on famous people throughout history. Usually these essays are related to the time period we are studying in history. We just moved into studying 300-500 A.D. They will do one more essay before heading into a unit about writing stories from pictures. They will be choosing one figure from a list of 20 or so. A few of the key players from this time period are: Atilla the Hun, Saint Jerome, Saint Augustine, Saint Brendan the Explorer, Constantine, Emperor Julian, Emperor Justinian, etc. We also have a few lessons on editing skills.

We had some friends over for a cookout last weekend. A few even stayed to camp in the playhouse. |
|
Trying a new recipe on the weeds around the perimeter of the garden. |
|
Yay!! We are back to eating from the garden. |
|
Been having lots of fruit and veggie smoothies for breakfast lately. Yum! And now I can throw in kale from the garden. |
|
First family meal outside. Yay summer!! |
|
Both Mace and the garlic are thriving! |
|
Spring veggies coming up. |
|
This week as I have been trying to work in the garden, I've had the kids watching Mace. I eventually found it just as easy to have him help me in the garden. He loves working in the dirt. |

Yet another new trick we're going to try from "Old World Garden Farms." These are to support the tomatoes.
Gotta run! Keep in touch ya'll!!
**Speaking of running. The chiropractic care is paying off. I'm running!! Up to 3.5 4 miles now. Yay! I can't tell you how good this feels. It's been at least 13 plus years that I've been able to run regularly without pain. Thanks be to Jesus Christ, my Healer!

Those are such cute kids helping out! Do you grow any berries? I think they might get eaten by the helpers before that make it to the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteDo you have mosquitoes? Since I put two mint plants out by my patio door...there have been no mosquitoes...for 2 years! The plants are spreading like wild fire...
Love the idea of the boys writing essays...I wonder if they want to write about their various relatives!!! LOL
