Sweet Science

I know some of you have already seen a video of this science activity but I thought I'd show a few pictures here too. We are finishing up our chapter on cell anatomy, so we did a sweet themed little hands-on project to reinforce the information.  We used yellow jello for the cytoplasm and various shaped candies for the cell organelles. I think it will be a fun, tasty memory for the kiddos.

A few more pics. Moments in the life of a homeschool family.  Maybe I should take more pictures of the craziness too, huh? :)

Some people have a "school" room set up in their homes. I've seen pictures; they are pretty cool but for us, "school" (ie. learning) is life. And life happens everywhere, all the time. So we pretty much weave our learning places into our whole home and lives. Well, as much as possible. It's a process.

I had to take a picture here because Mace goes and gets the globe. He says to me, "Mommy, we are here." He points to Wisconsin. I was impressed. Somebody around here must have taught him that. One of the benefits of  not segregating learning into age groups. Of course, they are benefits to many varieties of educating humans, large and small.
