Just Checking In . . .
Outside my window . . .
Sunny, blue skies, and warming up (I think). I think a walk/hike may be in order for tomorrow. The temps are supposed to be in the 20's this week. Not too bad.
I'm listening to . . .
the kids rough-housing together. It's all fun and games until . . .
These are a few of my favorite things . . .
Exercise outdoors. I'm a lucky girl. I like to exercise and I love the outdoors. Both do me a world of good. Nothing like some vigorous exercise to get my heart thumping, my muscles working, and lungs expanding. Pair that with some fresh air and nature and I'm good to go. Got some of that yesterday. Yeah! I also love my husband keeping young with exercise too. He got some as well. Yeah us!
In the kitchen . . .
I already shared my menu with you, so not much exciting to share. Right now I just need to finish cleaning the mess up from breakfast. I do have to rave about this one meal I've already told you about. If you want a fresh, delicious, new and exciting salad, you've just got to try the "Superfood Salad" from the blog "Iowa Girl Eats." It is so surprisingly different but a delight to the taste buds and body. We love it! I think I'm going to call it "Summer in the Winter Salad." It tastes fresh like summer but the ingredients are widely available in winter.
The boys and I are reading . . .
"The Adventures of Reddy Fox" by Thorton Burgess
On my nightstand . . .
"The First Circle" by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Family Verse
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength." Deut. 6:5
God is good
Our home is selling!! So thankful!
On my heart and in my prayers . . .
Lotsa, lotsa. A friend induced today. A young mom battling cancer. A young father battling cancer. A wayward daughter. A friend's hopes and dreams. Wisdom and guidance as we prepare to make some decisions concerning when to buy, what to buy for a home.
Learning, learning all the time.
What's new here? Mostly just plugging away. Reading and spelling are going nicely. I'm so glad I picked this book way back when. (Phonics Pathways) Math is going fine too. I'm pleased with Singapore math. It's been a good fit for us. Soon I'm going to have to split the boys up again for math. They are on different levels, which is challenging but its all good. I just need to think it through a bit more. Writing/handwriting are plugging along nicely too. I have my sights set on my big-time research to do for the future. I need to come up with a long-term plan. Thankfully there are some fantastic resources right at my finger tips. I think a conference this spring might be just the thing. Other than that, we've started a little "Science Club" with another family. I've worked up a new plan for picture study; I just need to pull it together. A new composer study is in the works too. We are plowing through history as well.
Plans for the rest of the week. . .
Plugging along with our lessons. Homeschool day at the library. A hike sometime. And perhaps a road trip for the hubbie to visit his mama. Prayers for her post-surgery healing on her knee?
All good, nice and sweet things!! :-) You are such a good match...thanks for marrying my "favorite son" Love Miss Em in her cooking attire!!
