My Girl

The thing that is hard about this broken leg business is that Nutmeg can't run around outside and play. It's amazing beautiful! I think it got up to 81 degrees yesterday. I love living out here in the country and watching the kiddos run around the yard or building forts. Anyhow, Nutmeg has been laying on the couch for two days, so we decided to blow up the air mattress and have dinner outside. Perfect! It was glorious! We must do it again.

fresh air = good for the body, mind, and soul

E is for Egg

Time to jump back and share Nutmeg's Alphabet Garden from this summer. I often find myself battling Mother Guilt over not doing as much "pre-school" activities and projects with Nutmeg as I did with the boys. It's silly, really, that we mothers do that to ourselves. It really makes no difference in the scheme of things. As long as we love our kiddos and hold them close, they are happy and content. Still, it is tricky to find the amount of quality time with Nutmeg as I would love to give her. It is one of my main goals to find pockets of time to spend together with her. Fortunately, she is often the first child awake, so we are able to read stories together first thing or cook breakfast together.

Here are a few activities we have been able to do this summer. She loves doing anything and everything we manage to do together. In the meantime, I am trying to take it easy and realize that so much learning is happening all around here. I know she is soaking it all in. Time back off, Mother Guilt!!

Good job honey!

F is for Fairy

We could have camped out on F is for fairies for a long time! Even the boys. We had a whole stack of fun fairy books but I forgot to a get a picture of them before I brought them back to the library. Here are a few. Fortunately we are still learning about "A Midsummer's Night Dream," so we still are talking about fairies and hobgoblins and the like.

If you are spending any time with little girlies, you must make these simple little fairies. Nutmeg and I made a pink one and a yellow one. I have some fake red flowers sitting on my dresser, just waiting to be turned into little red fairies. Perfect time to make them too with all this couch-lying going on.

Here's the tutorial for these cute little friends.
