Reading and Gardening: life is good.

Just had  pop in to share an example of my crazy-for-reading kiddo.  In the last two days Mr. Basil has read the first and second books in the  "Paddington" series and the first book in the "Mary Poppins" series. Madness, I tell you.

We are reading aloud "Little House in the Big Woods."  It's nice now that Nutmeg can now sit in and benefit from our read alouds now.

Sage continues to read through the "Boxcar Children" series. He loves them. He has decided to take a break and read the first "Paddington" book.

Even Mace has his own books from the library now. I only picked up three animal books for him but I can clearly see that this is not enough. We are going to need to start bringing a shopping cart to the library.

I picked up "The Swiss Family Robinson" the other day. I'll get through that and then I'm considering on moving in to the next book in the Sienkiewicz trilogy, "The Deluge."  I'm not sure though. I've enjoyed all this Polish history but I might need something vastly different for a spell. But the "The Deluge"is waiting on my nightstand until I find another recommended classic. I have to research these things, you know.

Well, we are late for lunch!

Oh, and I got the entire garden in yesterday! Wahoo! We took a day off from our lessons so that I could finish the garden off during Mace's nap time.  I'm excited for this year! I'm sad we won't have as many potatoes this year but I think there will be other pleasant surprises. Way less weeds. Yay! This weekend we must get some sturdy fencing up before the rabbits and eventually, the deer, wreck havoc. I noticed the rabbits are already nibbling on the broccoli. We also need to get some sort of support in for the pole beans.

Love you guys!!

  1. I love it! They all like to read, and it is the beginning of most learning! And Mr. Mace really got the idea from all that was going on. He is so cute . He gets to go to the library too, right? That must be fun! and yes, I bet he wants all of them~ Taking him to garage sale would be hilarious.!! I loved the Boxcar Children, Mr. Poppers Penguins, and Cheaper by the Dozen. books.I had third graders that devoured these too! funny, I wish I had saved my library Science book! (From college) It had the lists of all the classic children's books.
