I told Doug on the way to the park last night that it seems like we always mourn the end of summer at least a little bit but that God must have created autumn to ease that transition. What a beautiful end of a season! It really does help ease us into winter, I think.
And later on I thought more about it and shared with the kids. Autumn is like the end of a life well-lived. Just like autumn is a beautiful end of a season filled with life, one's final days can also be such a burst of beauty at the end of a life lived well. I hope I live my life in such a way that I may bring a warmth of beauty to those around me in those final days. One day at a time.
Anyway, we are treasuring each hour of this season as much as possible. This week has been incredible! So refreshing and healing for the soul.
A few pics from our lunchtime break.
These two posts were delivered at the same time...I finally got to open today! I think the internet provider is having trouble..but got it to work today. Love the fall colors and the bike riding by the older three. Ms Nutmeg looks so perky here with her notebook and her beautiful long hair.
