Hello there,
I've been making a mild resolution in my head concerning bringing the camera along more often. Really. So many times I wished I had brought. I'll try, k? It does seem to take an extra hand though. I'm not sure how I'll grow that extra hand but we'll see. It would have been humorous to had our camera last night. We ran out to go pick strawberries at our local you pick patch and got caught in a downpour. It was actually kinda fun. They gave us our few strawberries for free. Perhaps we'll try again today.
The garden is growing pretty well. Things are looking good, especially since I covered all the exposed dirt in straw this last weekend. That helps with the weeding load tremendously. Much less overwhelming. Our tomatoes are already getting to a point where they need to be staked. Must work on that today.
Boy, we do have one major problem though. Ack. I'm not sure what to do about it right now, except to go out and buy a bunch of marigolds to plant in the garden. Bugs! We've got three kinds of bugs that are wrecking havoc. Colorado Potato Beetles are back. Grr. It was nice to not have them last year. So the kids and I are on lookout duty for those big striped pests. We also need to check the underside of the leaves for the bright orange eggs. We also have these tiny little black bugs that I eating holes in the eggplant plant. And then something else is basically killing a few of the pumpkin plants that are starting to grow. Pests! Got lost!

I'm hoping the onions go well this year. We sure use a lot of them in cooking. I'm not really sure what I'm doing here. Wish us the best! |

Bath time last night. "Stick 'em up!!" he says. |
Those are nasty bugs! Well, I know mint plants keep away mosquitoes...
ReplyDeleteI will ask my guru what keeps the bugs off...We put worchester sauce on flowers to keep then from being eaten by animals...they might really keep the bug off..It will burn their throats if they have one...lol. The pics of Mace in the bath towel and head creation are hilarious...I remember that towel from...Emily...
Stay safe..see you in a few weeks!!
