History Night

We put on a very laid-back party for ourselves tonight to finish off a unit of history. 300 through 500 A.D.  We threw together some ideas for decorations, costumes, food, and games. Twas some good quality family time. I think we'll try doing it for all our history units. Maybe we'll get fancier in the future.

These two are putting together "Thor's hammer."

He's cutting out some "lighting" for the Thor's hammers.

We threw together a simple map of some places that played a part in this unit's studies.  The boys also made a timeline poster.

Sage put together the playing cards for charades.

The umm. . . "swords" didn't turn out so well.

In honor of Saint Ambrose, such a good preacher that he was dubbed "Honey-Tongued Doctor."

St. Monica (mother of Augustine), Saint Genevieve (with her vial of ointment), Saint Jerome (translator of the Latin Vulgate: you can't see his Bible here), and a barbarian.

The kids put on a neat little Lego play about Clovis, the King of the Franks: his conversion experience (in the midst of war) and subsequent baptism.

  1. That is great! Good planning and outfits! And the pictures tell quite a bit! All the food looks interesting how it relates to the history they were studying and the people! Good job everyone!
