Culmination of Holy Week: Easter Day, The Resurrection of Our Lord

Before I share a few pictures from Easter Day, I'll show you a few pics I took of our super simple redition of a Christian Seder meal. Catholic-Christian-Seder-with-a-Three-Year-Old-Meal.  Super simple and casual little seder. A refreshing family time together to learn something new and step into the Gospel just a bit more.

We used just a few simple symbols: lamb (Middle Eastern Lamb Meatloaf), "unleavened" bread: naan (not really unleavened but flat anyhow), horseradish for the bitter herb (I declined making it into maror this year), parsley and lettuce for bitter herbs dipped in salt water, wine (grape juice), "charoset" (applesauce with nuts and raisins).

We were far from performing the entire Seder dialogue but instead used these questions I found online. Just right for us.  We had our meal and then left for the Maundy Thursday Mass.

So Holy Thursday, Good Friday (of the Lord's Passion), Holy Saturday, and  . . .

The Resurrection of our Lord.

This year I went for a Greek-Inspired Easter menu.

Friday we made baklava for our Easter dessert.

Saturday we made tsoureki, a traditional Greek Easter bread. I didn't have time to find the ethnic spices, so I had to make a few substitions. Another time. We also decorated the bread with the traditional Eastern-style red-dyed eggs. Red symbolizing our Lord's blood shed for us. We decorated with five eggs; one for each of his five wounds.

Yellow onions skins are used to make the red dye.

Saturday evening Grandma took out for dinner at The Barn. Thanks so much Grandma!!!!

Not awesome Easter outfit pics but eh, it will have to do.

Nice pose, huh? Ha!!

Everything was great but . . . we overcooked the lamb. :(  We'll have to try again cuz the herby rub outside was delish.

Za'atar-Roasted Carrots with Labne

A walk after dinner before dessert. What a gorgeous weekend!
