Spring Happenings

Hi!!

I've got a load of pictures for you this evening. They aren't really in chronological order. Oops. I don't have time for that this evening.  Enjoy! Love you all. Oh and btw, chickening slaughtering experience near the end. If you've got a weak stomach, maybe skip that part. We are invited to a branding day at ranch this coming Saturday. If we make it, I'll try to get some pictures.

First pictures are in Helena in April. Basil spent a week at a class in Helena. We joined up with him for the weekend.

Sage was at the rental taking a math test. Diligent fellow.

While in Helena, we visited some old friends from Spokane. Since we saw them last they had five more kids, moved to Helena, and bought a farm. Ambitious people!

Basil's class picture with the governor. Basil is in the back row by the blue flag.

American history simulation at co-op. This is a cabinet meeting with FDR.

I usually teach geography, but for the last day we had a South African lady from our parish come and tell the kids about her country. They were riveted!

Some of the kids like to "fly" to the country we are studying for the day. It's fun.

Water fight with the soccer team at the coach's house.

Servers at our parish. Mace just started.

Little hands-on history.

For Doug's birthday we had hibachi.

Nutmeg is making kombucha these days.

Mother's Day at Scheels.

Chicken Slaughtering at the llama farm on Memorial Day weekend.

The devices of torture.

Getting the scoop on how the job is done.

"It was warm. . . 120 chickens is a lot of blood. I'm not used to this manual labor thing." Lol.

Sure. . . he looks innocent now . .

The regulars were pretty disappointed that they were so small this year.
Apparently, they are usually 10 pounds. I guess there was issue with the food and
also the chicks had to sit an extra day at the post office. We weren't able to reschedule due to the busyness of life. Still, we had a great time and will most likely join in again next year. Meanwhile we have 19 chickens in the freezer.
