Why hello there loved ones!
How are ya?? It was a good week around here. It started out somewhat rocky for me. I was feeling burnt out and emotional. You know, I am an introvert at heart. I NEED silence and solitary time to recharge. So I've been in need of some S & S. I had figured that this was coming, so I scheduled Doug for dinner duty for two nights this week. The plan was to hit the trails for some cross country skiing. I had been just itchin' to throw on the skies. I forgot to consult the weather forecast, however. All our snow melted and spring arrived unannounced. Instead, on Tuesday afternoon I went for a long walk. On Wednesday I took Nutmeg and went hiking at Devil's Lake. We had some splendid moments together. That girl LOVES her time with just mom. Those two afternoons of mental and physical care paid off! I feel so much better.
Yesterday was almost 70 degrees! Doug got off an hour early from work and we hit the stairs at Devil's Lake as a family. Re-creation at its best! I relish this kind of quality time together. We were reminded how good God has been to our family. He found a home for us with trails right in our backyard. We are blessed!
It was a good week with our lessons as well. I realize we might have holes here and there in our education but as a whole, I am feeling pleased and hopeful for the future. It seems we have developed a culture of the written word in our home. All of our kids love to read. Even Mace sprawls out on the floor with a little board book. I haven't caught it on film yet but its adorable. Basil told me several times this week how much he loves the library. Last night at dinner Doug asked about the papers they are working on. They both ran over to grab their writing binders and started reading their works to him. It blesses my heart to see their enthusiasm for academic pursuits.
Well, I must be going! I love you all!!
ReplyDeleteWow! All the kids have gown taller! They all seem to have good balance, even Mace.! It looks scary to me by the end of the trail there with a huge drop! that is silly Grandma. This reminds me of the first railroad track picture taken near my place of the Railroad Museum and your friend said " Is this was a new kind of discipline?" So funny!!!!
